Gerard “Gerry” Coleman passed away suddenly on January 6, 2024 following recent health complications.
Gerry was born on March 12, 1947 in Auburn, the son of the late Francis J. and Arlene (Weber) Coleman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dawn (Malpass); daughter Kimberly (Damian) Bauso; his siblings David (Ann) Coleman, Mark (Betsy)Coleman, Christine (David) Jedra, Janie (Peter) Wyckoff, Margaret (Doug) Gage, Peter (Jessie) Coleman; sister in law Barbara Coleman; beloved family members of his wife’s in England; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was also pre-deceased by his brother, Francis J. Coleman Jr.
Gerry was employed as a truck driver for many years at Stott & Davis and Howard’s Express before working as a school bus driver in Auburn until 2018, which he loved doing.
Throughout his life, Gerry spent many happy years traveling in his RV, woodworking, working on cars, tinkering in the garage, eating out at his favorite diners, attending local outdoor concerts, and vacationing in the Adirondacks and England, where he and Dawn met and lived in the mid-1970’s. He had a passion for driving be it for work or pleasure or even mowing the lawn.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 3-6pm at Heieck-Pelc Funeral Home, LLC 48 South Street, Auburn. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, Melrose Rd Auburn with a graveside service immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
