Dr. James Dewitt Rose

Dr. James Dewitt Rose died at the Commons on St. Anthony, Thursday January 10, 2019 . He was born on February 12, 1931 to Dewitt and Dorothy Fitch Rose in Oneida, NY. The attending physician was Dr. Otto Pfaff, grandfather and mentor to the future obstetrician.  He grew up and attended schools in Vernon, graduating from Hamilton College and SUNY College of Medicine in Syracuse. After three years in Germany as a captain in the United States Army, he returned to Syracuse for further specialty training. 

Dr. Rose moved to Auburn in 1965 and practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology there for 30 years. When he began to require nursing and medical care, he found himself in the hands of men and women he had cared for and sometimes delivered.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dr. Marie Rose; daughter, Elizabeth Rose Wilson; sons Philip, Timothy and Dr. Christopher Rose, and daughters-in-law, Kirstin and Lori Rose. Additionally, he leaves eleven treasured grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday January 13, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. in Sacred Heart Church Melrose Rd. Memorial Services for Dr. Rose will be celebrated on Monday January 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the church.
