Edward J. Szozda, 84, of Auburn passed away Tuesday Dec. 5, 2017 in Auburn Community Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Szozda was born in Auburn the son of the late John and Philomena Slimak. He was a life resident of the City of Auburn. He was a graduate of Auburn High School and he excelled in varsity football and baseball, he was a city champion in foul shooting and rope jumping. He played American Legion Baseball for the S-K-Post 1324, played softball for Swifty’s and Polish Falcon’s and bowled for Swifty’s and the S-K Post teams. He retired from New Process Gear with 30 years of service. He was an U.S Army veteran.
Edward held memberships with Polish Falcon’s, Polish Home (PNA), and the UAW 624. He was a life member of the S-K Post 1324 of fifty years; he served as an officer for over 30 years, past commander and Finance officer.
Mr. Szozda is survived by his children Edward (Kim), Patricia (Greg) Parker and Theodore. His brother John (Mary) Szozda. His sister, Chris (Mark) Cuipylo, and his beloved granddaughter Sarah. Including many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Szozda was predeceased by his wife Joan, his infant children David and Phyliss.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday Dec.9, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. in the Heieck - Pelc Funeral home, LLC 42 E.Genesee St. with his service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery where a military service will be accorded.
Family has requested in lieu of flowers to a charity of choice.
