Eugene G. Brooks

Eugene G. Brooks, 93, of Auburn died Wednesday August 22, 2018 in the Commons on St. Anthony.

Mr. Brooks was born in Rockaway, NJ the son of Joseph Hiler Brooks and Mildred Mae Brown Brooks. Gene was a World War II Navy veteran who served on the USS Deuel as a medic and he was a survivor of the battle of Iwo Jima and his ship was present at the Okinawa peace treaty signing.  Mr. Brooks, a funeral director, was the owner /operator of the E.A. Heieck and Son Funeral Service retiring in 1986. He was an avid outdoors lover, he participated in hunting, fishing, golfing and snowmobiling.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife of 70 years the former Yvonne Hess in which they just celebrated their Anniversary August 19, 2018. His children; Sandra Brooks, Jacquelyn VanDellon (Mark), Daniel Brooks (Roberta), Joseph Brooks (Cynthia). Grandchildren; Wendy VanDellon (Chad Guarino) and Peter VanDellon, Mathew Brooks,  Alisha Roof  and her husband Johnathon, Mark Brooks, Corey Brooks, Clint Brooks, Luke Brooks and Trace Brooks.

His sister Beverly Brooks Pfurr and his granddaughter Sophia “Fefe” Brooks predeceased Mr. Brooks.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
