Lois Pamplun Floyd, age 82, a lifetime resident of the Auburn area passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Auburn Community Hospital.  Born August 29, 1934, Lois was a graduate of Central High School, and attended business school in Rochester, NY.

Lois was a Past President of the Beta Sigma Phi Society, and a former Girl Scout Leader.  She was an avid theater advocate who worked with the Auburn Players and Weedsport Community Theater making costumes and doing back stage work.  She was also a member of the Rome Community Theater.

Lois was first and foremost a family person.  She never forgot a birthday and was widely known as Aunt Lotus or Lotus Flower to her extensive family and Ma Floyd to her five daughter’s friends.  She loved to read, do crossword and other puzzles, and spent many hours in recent years enjoying the adult coloring craze.  Lois spent the last few years as a resident of the Auburn Nursing Home and was widely loved by the residents and employees.  She served proudly as the Resident Counsel Chair.

Lois is survived by her five daughters of whom she was so proud: Karen (Bob) Sharra, Kathy (Dan) Starnick, Cindy (Russ) Bunnell, Eileen (Terry) Moore and Patty (Joe) Pierleoni.  She often went through the whole list when trying to get the attention of any one of them.  She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Jeff, Amy and Nicole Sharra; Dawn Marie Bernhard; Bill, Allie and Josh Bunnell; Garett and Brian Moore; and Nick Pierleoni; as well as by her two great granddaughters, Lila Sharra and Ruby Larsen. Lois was the eldest of five sisters and is survived by her sisters Joan Gurak, Sharon Westover and Sandra Usowski, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Marie Pamplun, and by her sister Carol Green of Auburn, New York.

Lois’s calling hours will be at Sacred Heart Church (Melrose Road) on Sunday, July 23rd, from 4 to 7 p.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, July 24th at 12:30 p.m., also at Sacred Heart Church.  She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery next to her beloved sister, Carol.

In memory of Lois, please consider a donation to the Therapeutic Recreation Department at Auburn Nursing Home 85 Thornton Ave. Auburn, NY 13021.
