Barbara Ann (Dennis) Horning

Barbara Ann Horning, a cherished and admired member of the Auburn community, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on August 19, 1929, in Auburn, N.Y., Barbara lived a full life marked by devotion, kindness, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her.

Barbara, known affectionately to her friends and family as simply Barbara, was a woman whose presence was a source of comfort and joy. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with a grace that was felt by all who knew her. As a lifelong Christian, she embodied the values of love and kindness, and her faith-filled life was a testament to her unshakeable belief in the goodness of people and the world.

In her professional life, Barbara was a dedicated employee at Welch Allyn, where she worked until her retirement. Her commitment to her work was evident in the meticulous care she took in her duties and the respect she earned from her colleagues. Barbara's work ethic and professionalism left a lasting impression on those who had the pleasure of working alongside her.

Beyond her work, Barbara had a passion for literature and the simple joys of life. She was often found with a book in her hand, lost in the worlds created by her favorite authors. Her love for reading was matched only by her enjoyment of crossword puzzles, a hobby that kept her mind sharp and provided endless hours of leisure. She is survived by her beloved nieces, Tracy Bennett (Wade), Andrea Pinkston, and nephews, Don Dennis Jr. (Debbie), Charles Dennis (Marsha), Fred Dennis (Chris), Wayne Dennis (Mary Alice), along with many great-nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Barbara was a pillar of strength and love in her family, and her guidance and wisdom will be deeply missed.

Those who knew Barbara would describe her as a loving, faith-filled, and kind soul. Her generosity of spirit and her ability to see the good in others were attributes that made her truly special. Barbara's warm smile and gentle nature were sources of light in the lives of those she touched.
