Barbara K Lee, 80, of Auburn. Unexpectedly, Barb passed away in Auburn Community Hospital – ER after being stricken at home on Saturday June 29, 2024.
She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on May 15,1944. She was a cherished daughter of William J. and Elizabeth Graney. Barb was a graduate of Central High School in 1963.
Her career was varied and included Climate Control, Tops Market, and school crossing guard.
Her professional life was marked by 3 decades as the Executive Administrative Assistant of The United Way of Cayuga County. Her work reflected her innate desire to uplift and support the community she loved. She was also an active member in the Knights of Columbus 207 Auxiliary, further exemplifying her commitment to Auburn.
Barbara was very proud of her Irish heritage, and celebrated it with a trip to Ireland. It was a highlight in her life.
She enjoyed her “Wednesdays with the girls”, her summers attending Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, where she never missed a show. Monday nights always found her and her husband Bill at the Knights of Columbus with friends.
Barbara’s home was always open to anyone at any time. She enjoyed hosting holiday parties, and Friday night cookouts with Bill’s family.
People enjoyed being around Barb and Bill as it was always a good time. Barbara will always be remembered for her radiant smile, friendly demeanor. Her kindness was a source of comfort for family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband William of 57 years. She was also a devoted mother to her son Jeffrey, whom she cherished.
She is survived by her three sisters: Doreen (Vince) Mahunik, Patricia (Robert) Craver, Betsy Graney (Mark Passarello) and two brothers William and Michael Graney. She cherished her nieces, nephews, and favorite cousins.
The family would like to thank Auburn Fire Dept, Auburn Police Dept., Auburn Ambulance and the E.R. Staff at Auburn Community Hospital for their professionalism and compassion during such a difficult time.
