Bridget (Alfieri) Szakalski passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on June 8, 1946, in Auburn, New York, Bridget lived a life rooted in love, faith, family, and friendship. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness and compassion touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered with deep love and affection by all who were blessed to share in her life's journey.
Bridget carried herself with grace, warmth, and genuine kindness, making everyone she met feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.
Throughout her working years, Bridget was employed at Red Star and D&W Diesel, where she held a variety of roles and earned the respect and appreciation of her colleagues through her dedication and strong work ethic.
Family was the center of Bridget's world and the greatest source of her happiness. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Joe, her loving children, Joey (Kelly), Michael, and Carie Szakalski, who brought immense pride and joy to her life.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kelcie, Megan, and Jersi, and her adored great-grandson, Grayson, who held a very special place in her heart. In addition, Bridget is lovingly remembered by her sister, Rose Ann, and brother, TJ, as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Bridget was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Michael Alfieri, and her brother, Carl Dan.
In her free time, Bridget's greatest joy was celebrating the holidays and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed the "occasional" trips to the casino with her husband, where she found excitement and fun. Above all, she found happiness in being surrounded by those she cared about.
Bridget will be remembered for her loving nature, generous heart, and thoughtful spirit. Her compassion touched many lives, and her memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those who knew her.
Bridget's life was a beautiful testament to her love for her country, the power of faith, family, and unconditional love. Though she is no longer with us in person, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her memory will be cherished always, and she will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever loved.
