Carol Crehan Obituary

Carol Flynn Crehan, 84, of Auburn, New York, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at the Commons on St. Anthony, surrounded by the quiet comfort and dignity she so richly deserved.

She was born on January 6, 1942, in Auburn, New York, and was a lifelong member of the surrounding community she called home. Carol graduated from West High School in Auburn, New York, Class of 1959, and carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness with her throughout her life. Carol devoted many years of service to RG Wright Insurance, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Her colleagues respected her, and she approached her work with the same care and thoughtfulness she brought to every part of her life.

Carol will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She had a special gift for making others feel cared for, and her creativity and kindness were reflected in the many ways she nurtured her family. She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life, especially sewing, bird watching, being by the water, sunsets, and spending time surrounded by her family. These were the moments that brought her the greatest happiness, and she cherished them deeply.

She is survived by her children, Sean (Jolene) Crehan, and Susan (Jim) Mills.  She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kaitlyn Crehan, LJ (Emily) Mills, Stephanie (Tyler) Catalfano, Connor Crehan, Carley (Tommy) Mills, Kiley Crehan, Austin (JaCee) Martinez and Paityn Delaney. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Jack, Luke, Aubrey, Callahan, Isaiah, and Gianna.

Carol was predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Flynn, her sisters Mary "Molly" Flynn and Susan L. Flynn, her grandson Ryan G. Crehan and her Husband of almost 40 years Gerald J. Crehan.

A special thanks to the rehabilitation staff at the Commons on St. Anthony Street for providing years of rehab and respite care to our mother. We are especially grateful for the way you went above and beyond during her last days.

We would also like to thank her private caregivers for taking such good care of our mother on a daily and sometimes nightly basis over the last 3 years. Your extra love and care from cutting out birds to singing songs was so appreciated.
