Douglas J. "Duke" Mitchell

Douglas "Duke" Mitchell, 71, of Auburn, NY, passed away Saturday August 22, at Auburn Nursing Home after a long illness.  Duke last worked at Skaneateles Country Club as a grounds maintenance worker before his retirement.  Duke enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his son Dan talking about his three grandchildren. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1419 and also the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Auburn.

Duke was predeceased by his brother Tommy and his parents Ward and Dorothy. He is survived by his son, Daniel Mitchell (Laurie) and his three grandchildren Caitlyn, Nicholas, and Alexandra "Lexi". He is also survived by two sisters Maryanne Westover and Susan Barbery (Edward), and four brothers, Ward (Kathy), Bobby (Sandy), Michael, and Billy and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday August 26th at Heieck - Pelc Funeral Home, LLC at 42 E Genesee St, Auburn, NY 13021.  Services and burial for Mr. Mitchell will be private at the family's request.
