Edward Joseph Chase, of Auburn NY, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, at the age of 83. He was the son of the late Isabel Nagle and Avery Chase. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Jean Chase, and his brother David E. Chase.
Ed worked as a Tool and Die Maker at McQuay International for over 40 years. He loved working with his hands and could build or fix just about anything. The home that he shared with his wife he remodeled mostly by himself. He also loved spending time outdoors - either camping, riding motorcycles, throwing horseshoes, or even just sitting in the sun (clothing optional). He was an accomplished pool player and spent many family gatherings teaching the next generation how to play. He enjoyed having a cold beer and sharing stories at Costellos, the Moose Lodge, and the UNC Club.
He is survived by his children, Richard Chase (Vicki) of Weedsport, NY; Michael Chase (Joelle Fox) of Lucas, TX; Laurie Jones (Geoff) of Wilmington, DE; Stepchildren, Polly Bishop of Garland, TX; Tammy LaFramboise (Mark) of Hannibal, NY; Bradley Smith (Carletta) of Valparaiso, FL; his sister, Donna Thomas (Bill) of Wilmington, NC; his brothers, Mark Chase (Sue) of Cayuga, NY and Alan Chase of Syracuse, NY. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his aides for taking such good care of him when it was needed most.
A celebration of his life will be held at his home (101 Wall Street) on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.
