Eugene P. “Jiggs” Savio
Eugene P. Savio, 84 of Auburn died Wednesday September 10, 2014.
Eugene was born in Auburn the son of the late Eugene and Irene Malatesta Savio.
Mr. Savio was predeceased by his Uncle Victor Malatesta.
Survived by his cousins Gerrie (Tom) Cardinale Newcomb , Robert (Nancy) Cardinale , Nilda Drago and Marina Moresco of Genoa, Italy. In addition to his survivors are his close friends; Olga Casaleggio, Lou Alfieri and family.
Jiggs was a graduate of Holy Family elementary and High School class of 1949. He is a retired employee of The US Postal Service with 28 years of service. He was an avid sports fan and bowler. Jiggs enjoyed his vacations to Genoa, Italy to visit family and friends. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
A Mass of Christian burial will offered on Tuesday Sept. 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday September 15, 2014 from 4-6 p.m. at the Heieck – Pelc Funeral Home, LLC located at 42 E. Genesee St. Auburn, NY
