Evelyn Sroka died peacefully at Auburn Community Hospital on June 2nd following a short illness. She was a former resident of Auburn Nursing Home.
Mrs. Sroka was born in Auburn the daughter of the late Ignatius and Julia Walawender Fronczek. She was a1945 graduate of Auburn Central High school. She is a retired employee of the Polish Falcons with over 40 years of service at the nest. Evelyn was a member since 1934 and past president of the Falconetts Nest 430 of Auburn . She was a recipient of the Gold Legion of Honor which is one of the highest recognition given to a Falconette.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Bernard Sroka and her siblings Mary Fronczek, Lottie Hutching, Stella Long, Josephine Bielowicz, Stanley Fronczek and Frank Fronczek.
Evelyn was survived by her loving daughters, Sharon (Gary) Fleszar and Nancy Sroka, granddaughters Heather (Steve) Henshaw and Jill (Bill) Clingersmith, great granddaughter, Lila Henshaw and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday June 5, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the Heieck – Pelc Funeral Home, LLC 42 E. Genesee St. Auburn. A mass of Christian burial will offered on Thursday June 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Hyacinth Church burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fleming, NY.
