George Rusin Sr., 79, of Auburn went home to the Lord our Savior on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.
He was born February 23, 1935 and was the son of the late John and Mary Rusin and had lived in Auburn his entire life. Upon retirement, George became an avid gardener and antique lover and loved reminiscing about his childhood with his mischievous brothers and how he made his wife fall in love with him. His love of the Lord was extremely relevant and important in his everyday life.
George earned his doctorate in chemical engineering at Michigan State University and retired from Nestle's in Fulton, NY. He worked for years on the love of his collection of antiques and art and having a garden to share with his family and friends. He enjoyed helping take care of all his grandchildren and making them laugh and making sure everyone knew that they all looked exactly like him. George always was thankful for his neighbor, Tyler Bishop, talking about politics, religion and of course money and who was the better Uke. His best and most enduring quality was the love he had for his wife, whom he had been with since they were 16 years old.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan Pelton Rusin of Auburn, two sons, George Rusin Jr., Joel (Linda) Rusin, three daughters, Arleen (Rick) Kushaney, Alison Huey (Jim Roeschlaub), Alisa (Kevin) Lawton as well as 17 grandchildren, 7 great grand children and one very special granddaughter, Kitana France one brother Steve (Evelyn) Rusin as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his son Gary, and grandson Andrew, a sister Mary, brothers John, Nick and Mike.
