Jane A. (Denman) Porten

Jane A. (Denman) Porten, 94, of Auburn passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born to the late John and Florence Denman on April 10, 1930, in Niles, NY. She married her late husband David A. Porten, on July 1, 1950. Jane was a bus driver for Auburn School District and continued her driving career with Centro for many years, retiring at the age of 73. Jane enjoyed bowling, with a 600 Club status, and golfing as a woman’s Dutch Hollow Club Champion. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, and was a talented crocheter.

She is survived by 6 children, David “Dutch” Porten, Cate (Porten) Didion, Stephen Porten and his wife Lenora, Douglas Porten and his wife Julie, Nancy (Porten) Pesko and her husband Ted, and Thomas Porten, Karen 8 grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Jenna, Jennifer, Tricia, David, Matthew, Jonathon. 3 great-grandchildren, Tec, Lukas, Lexi Jane, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be calling hours 12:00 pm–2:00 pm, Friday, December 20, 2024, at Heieck Pelc Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made in Jane’s memory to: Nick’s Ride for Friends, 13 Chapel Street, Auburn, NY 13021.
