John F. LeFever, known to many as Jack, age 81, of Auburn, New York, passed away on August 8, 2026, in Auburn, New York. Born on October 18, 1944, in Geneva, New York, Jack lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a warm sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a Christian and carried his faith quietly and steadily throughout his life. Jack was a funny, loving, and generous man whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those around him. Jack was a proud graduate of West High and went on to serve his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as a longtime employee of Pepsi and later worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Walmart. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the pride he took in every job he did. Jack approached life with determination and a steady hand, and he earned the respect of coworkers, friends, and family alike. Outside of work, Jack had many interests that reflected his curiosity and easygoing nature. He enjoyed tinkering with electronics and computers, always finding satisfaction in figuring out how things worked. He loved traveling to the beach and taking motorcycle rides with his brother-in-law, Dal. He also enjoyed smoking cigars on the benches outside of Boyle Center, where he could often be found sharing conversation and time with others. Above all, Jack treasured time spent with his beloved grandchildren, Owen, Evan, and Zoey, who brought him immense joy and were among the greatest blessings in his life. Jack is survived by his daughter, Melissa Casler; his stepson, Jeff Lang; his grandchildren, Owen Casler, Evan Casler, and Zoey Casler; his sister, MaryLou Heath and her husband, Earl; his brother, Tom LeFever and his wife, Paulette; his significant other, Sally Gower; and several nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind many friends and extended family members who will remember him with love and appreciation. He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Mary LeFever, as well as his sisters, Linda Littlefield and Judy Vail. He is also remembered with affection by those family members who remain connected through their husbands, Dal Littlefield and Ed Vail, and by all who shared in the family bonds he helped strengthen over the years. Jack will be remembered for his humor, his kindness, and the generous spirit he shared so freely. He had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and his love for family was evident in all he did. His life was one of service, loyalty, and simple joys, and the memories he created will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and steadfast devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
