John Rusin III

John Rusin III, age 70, of Auburn passed away March 19, 2026 at Syracuse University Hospital. John was born July 14, 1955 in Auburn, grew up in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School. He worked for Auburn Armature then Beardsley Architects & Engineers until his retirement.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his real passion was story telling. He loved history and was the History Channel’s biggest fan.  Above all his family was his life.  

He is survived by his sisters Mary Pisano (Wayne) of Easton, PA, Claire Rusin of Auburn, NY, Nancy Gable (Randy) of Auburn, NY, Nieces Claire Seferidis (Lazaros) of Jersey City, NJ, Valerie Scott (Douglas) of Pipersville, PA, Grace Swientonioski of Auburn, NY, Nephews Alex Pisano (Taylor) of Lake Ariel, PA, Rick Swientonioski of Rochester, NY, Great Nephews Jackson Scott, Cameron Scott, Great Nieces Oakley Pisano, Aria Seferidis, Aunt Elizabeth Rusin, and his beloved dog Sam.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Clara Rusin and brother David Rusin.

The family would like to thank Upstate University Hospital’s CCU for the outstanding care and compassion the entire staff showed to our brother.

Calling hours are Saturday, April 11 at 10am followed by a small 11am service at Heieck-Pelc Funeral Home, 48 South St, Auburn, NY.  Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming, NY.  A Memorial Service Repast at Springside Inn, 6141 W Lake Rd, Auburn, NY, will follow the burial.
