Lawrence E. Besner Jr.
Lawrence E. “Butch” Besner Jr., of Van Anden St. passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 10, 2013 with his family by his side.
He was the son of the late Lawrence E. Besner Sr. and the late Elizabeth Ward Besner. Larry was a 1965 graduate of Cato – Meridian Central School, following graduation he joined the Navy and he served our country aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard CVI-31 as a cook during the Vietnam War from 1965-1971.
Larry loved cooking for everyone. He was a line cook at many restaurants in the Auburn area and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Relief Team until his health declined to the point that he could no longer volunteer or work.
Larry is survived by his wife of 18 years, Donna Crawford Besner, Daughters , Laura ( Abel) Hernandez of Texas, Angela( Miguel) Olea of Texas, Bonnie Besner of California, Amanda ( Greg) Sayles of Weedsport, Sarah ( Rich) Smith of Auburn, Ashley ( Jason) Besner of Auburn, Alison ( Eric) Besner. Sons, William of Arizona, Lawrence III (Mary Jane) of Auburn, David (Josette) of Auburn, Thomas (Melissa) of Wisconsin and Thomas (Tracy) Crawford of Auburn. 34 Grandchildren and 9 Great – grandchildren. 5 brothers, 6 sisters, including several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Deborah Morhiser Besner and a sister Christine Besner Burger.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mr. Besner’s Memorial Service on Saturday September 14, 2013 in Second Baptist Church 1 N. Herman Ave. Auburn at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of calling at 10 a.m.
