Norma Bidwell, a faithful wife, loving mother, and loyal friend, passed away on July 24th. After graduating PBCS in 1952, she attended Auburn Business School and afterward went on to pursue a secretarial career before marrying Lee Bidwell. Together they had 4 children.
Norma became a dedicated walker, making many close friends at Finger Lakes Mall and participating in multiple Folk Marches throughout the area. She is known to many at the PBCS gym and the Erie Canal Trail where she continued her walking and exercise until the end of her life--despite the increasing challenges of Parkinson’s Disease.
She is survived by her children: Brian, Scott (Rita Hyrynk), and Lynn (Keith Leo), her sister Etta Mae Chamberlin, brother-in-law Ralph McDowell, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a group of wonderful caregivers who provided hours of joy while allowing her to remain in her home until the end of her life. She is predeceased by her husband Lee in 2011, son Mark in 1965, sister June McDowell and brother Laverne Horr, Jr.
Those who wish to honor Norma’s memory may choose to donate to the Parkinson’s Foundation or The Assistance Fund, or to simply offer kindness to someone who needs it.
Since Norma was a gracious hostess with a renowned sweet tooth, she would be happy to know a private memorial service for family and friends will be held. Cake and cookies will be served.
