Richard D, Wawro,80, husband of loving wife of 58 years, Sheila (Panek) Wawro was called to heaven on Monday, April 6th 2015.

Richard was a lifelong native of Auburn and was a parishioner of St. Hyacinth's church and St.
Mary's church. He was a graduate of St. Hyacinth's school and attended Auburn schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Salem during the Korean War.

After the service, he was employed at ALCO in Auburn and was a member of the IBEW Electrical Union. He then left ALCO to work at Fisher Body Division of General Motors in Syracuse where he became a Journeymen Millwright; retiring in 1994 as a maintenance supervisor over several departments. After his retirement, he remained active and drove bus for CTC and volunteered to drive the Disabled American Veterans' bus to the VA Hospital in Syracuse. He was a lifelong member of the SK Post 1324, the VFW 1975, and the Korean War Veterans.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Sheila, his daughters Patty (Mark) Smith, Debbie (Lenny) Kimball, Sharon (Robert) Fasce, and his son David Wawro; grandchildren: Missy (Steve) Sevier and Candy Smith, Robbie Gross Jr., Amanda and Jessica Kimball, Bethany, Nicole and Andrew Wawro, Christopher, Matthew, and Nicholas Fasce; and great grandchildren: Garret and Gracie Sevier, and Emma Smith-Dennis.

Awaiting him were his four infant sons: Richard, David, Stanley, and David, who at birth went to heaven in the late 1950's and early 1960's, his daughter-in-law Janet (Bratek) Wawro in July 2013 and most recently his beloved 44 year old son, Richard F. Wawro on December 11th, 2014. Richard also was predeceased by his parents Frank and Bernadine Wawro, and his four sisters: Stella Quinzi, Bernadine Newman, Elizabeth Stine and Celia Rancier.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He took pride in his Polish heritage, was proud to be an American, served his country honorably, and would never allow his children to buy a foreign vehicle. He was strong in his faith and active in the church. He forever guided his family and taught the importance of love for God and family was above all.
