Stella Jurek Wildner, 93, of theTown of Owasco, died peacefully at Auburn Community Hospital on Monday, Feb.9, 2015.
Born in the Town of Fleming on June 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Victoria Ostrowski Jurek. She graduated from Union Springs as class salutatorian and from Auburn Business School. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Osborne Hotel in Auburn before marrying her husband, John G. Wildner in 1944. They were founding members of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed being a homemaker. Stella will always be remembered for her cuteness, her sense of humor, her generosity, her faith in God, her intelligent mind, and her appreciation for what people did for her, as she was known for her response, “Thank you very much.”
She is survived by her son, Edward and his wife Kathy, a very special daughter -in-law of Auburn; three daughters, Lorraine (Gary) Schwartz of Marcellus; Shirley (Frank) Rugolo of Oceanside, Long Island; Dorothy (David) Kopp of Auburn; six grandchildren: Casey Oleksy, Tracie Wildner, Joseph,Frank and Catherine Rugolo, and Lisa Galella. Stella was “Baby Grandma” to four great-grand children, Kaitlin Tanner, Riley Rugolo, Samantha Galella, and Ella Rugolo with 2 more arriving in the summer of 2015. She is also survived by one sister, Jane Randall of Connecticut and many nieces and nephews.
Stella was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1995; her parents, and her sisters Sophie Niedzwiecki, Lottie Pelc, Irene Zakielarz, and Rose Stack.
Deep appreciation goes to her amazing, loving caregiver, Renee Campbell , to the wonderful staff at Westminster Manor for the past year, and to the staff, nurses, and doctors on 4C, 3Mem, and 2 Mem and Dr. David White for their skillful and compassionate care of Stella.
According to Stella’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30, Saturday, Feb. 14 at Sacred Heart Church with a burial following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Heieck-Pelc Funeral Home,LLC 42 East Genesee St., Auburn, NY.
