William A. Baker Jr.

William A. Baker, 67, of Weedsport, NY passed away May 31, 2024. Bill was born in Auburn, NY and graduated in the class of '75 from Weedsport High School. He worked as shipping supervisor at Southern Container and was enjoying retirement to the fullest with his family and friends.

Bill was a huge fan of any motorsport activity. He would be found most weekends watching and assisting his grandchildren race their four wheelers and dirt bikes.

He thoroughly enjoyed his fishing outings with his friend Vern.  He could be found every morning at the Pit-Stop having coffee with many friends, solving the problems of the world.

Bill was known as the person to call when anyone needed help with anything. He was more than happy to do for others. He was the man everyone was honored to call friend. His big heart served everyone.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Dawn (Lasher) Baker; his pride and joy sons- Jeremy, Brian and Greg; cherished grandchildren Troy, Trevor, Cole, Ava Jane Baker and Olivia Smith-Baker; brothers Kevin and Timmy, sister Tammy (Keith) Stoneburg;  Aunts and Uncles: Sister Beverly Baker, Peggy (Butch) Moulton, Joan Clingerman, David (Donna) Baker, John (Kathy) Baker, Bonnie Baker, Dominick Balistreri, Sharon (Joel) Hudson, Gerard (Jeanine) Baker, and Phyliss (Bob) Dixon; sisters-in-law Brenda (Bob) Gonza and Jackie Bratt, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends he considered family; his sidekick (dog) Sam and his cat Momma Kitty.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Jane Baker, Aunts and Uncles: Mary Elizabeth Baker, Richard (Jean), Edward and George Baker, Jim and Katherine Morgan; Father-in-law Roger (Rosemary) Lasher; Mother-in-law Martha (Don) Shippey.

Calling hours will be held at Heieck - Pelc Funeral Home, LLC 48 South Street, Auburn, NY on Wednesday June 5th, 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, 15 Clark St. Auburn, NY on Thursday June 6th at 12:30pm. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fleming, NY.
